Nashville Engagement Session ◦ BETHANY & ERIN

Bethany & Erin are wonderful people and we are so so excited to be photographing their wedding this fall. But what I want to share along with their sneak peek is a little lesson these two reminded me of.

Bethany & Erin arrived at our session a bundle of nerves, as almost all of our couples do…making sure we knew that they were not pros at having their photo taken and that they were just nervous about the whole thing. I smiled and reassured them that I always feel the same way when I’m the one in front of the camera. It can be intimidating to be in front of a camera…unsure of how you look, unsure if you’re doing the right thing. Trust me, I completely understand. But something happens if you put Matt into the photo with me. I love him, he loves me, we have so much fun together and if I can just be myself, loving him and having fun, I’m completely happy in front of the camera because it’s no longer just about me. It’s about us and who we are together. This is how I always approach engagement photos. It’s not about posing or looking perfect, it’s about spending time with the person you care about more than anyone else on the planet. Simply enjoying each other’s company.

And that is exactly what Bethany & Erin are wonderful at. They simply enjoy being around each other. And before we were even half way through the session, they were both saying how it was so much easier than they thought it would be and how much fun they were having. And I take that, truly, as the highest compliment. Because it means I’m capturing them as they truly are. The picture of their love and this amazing time in their journey together.

So, really, who cares if they are pros at having their photo taken…loving each other? They are pros at that.
