For My Brides ◦ ROCK YOUR ENGAGEMENT SESSION

I love engagement sessions! I encourage every couple to have one if possible, for so many reasons. First and foremost, having photos of you and the one you love as you prepare to spend the rest of your lives together is irreplaceable. These photos are about who you are together; the horizon of a new journey, all that you have become as a couple and all that you will be as a family. Second, they are the absolute best way to prepare for your wedding day photos. We get to know each other even better, you get used to the camera and we just have fun! And third, who doesn’t want an excuse to get dressed up and have uninterrupted time and a really good excuse to cuddle up with your fiance :) It’s all around just a good idea :)

I get asked questions often from brides about engagement sessions so I thought I’d put it all down in 5 easy “rules” to help!

1. DETERMINE THE FEEL YOU WANT FOR YOUR ENGAGEMENT PHOTOS

…what do you and your fiance love to do together? What is your personality? What is the story of your relationship? My number one priority in engagement sessions is to tell the story of your relationship. Who you are to each other. Whether at a coffee shop, the park, a sports complex, an open field, downtown, the library, on the water, the session is about telling your story.

2. THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX

…bring some props, think of an activity or a theme. Having some inspiration to build a session around makes it so much fun! Think of your favorite movie, book, pastime or crazy idea. Trust me, no idea is too crazy :)

3. LOOK HOT

…Yes, you have permission. Go shopping. Have fun! You’re going to have these photos forever and they document such an important part of your story together. You’re allowed to be a hot couple! Most couples bring a couple different outfits. A few guidelines: Wear something you love and feel comfortable in. Compliment each other but don’t go too matchy-matchy. Accessorize & layer. Don’t wear too much black or white. Wear cute shoes :)

4. CONSIDER HAVING YOUR HAIR & MAKE-UP DONE BY A PROFESSIONAL

…it’s a great way to get to know a hair/make-up artist for your wedding and can make you feel more confident and beautiful, which shows through in photos!

5. RELAX & HAVE FUN

….you don’t have to be a pro in front of the camera. These sessions are about having fun and getting some quality time with the one you love, no pressure to be a model, just yourself. In Love :)
