Nashville Wedding Photography ◦ Cedarwood ◦ LACEY & TAYLOR

The first thing you notice about Lacey & Taylor is their joy. Their joy for life, for laughter, for their friends, their family and for each other. If you look through their engagement photos you will see this, over and over again. The true and utter joy they have shared together since they were kids. The morning of their wedding I reflected a bit on the joy I knew I was about to document.

After only a few minutes of being in Lacey’s home capturing her getting ready with her best friends, I realized how much more this day was going to be. The joy of love, friendship, a gorgeous wedding dress, a beautiful day…these things were very evident. But as I watched the day unfold, I found that the joy we were all feeling was so much bigger than that. The joy of their day was in God, bringing two people together to serve Him, to know Him and to find their joy in Him.

This kind of joy is something that you can’t describe in words, though their handwritten vows came close. This kind of joy can’t be expressed in decorations, though every gorgeous handmade detail came close. This kind of joy is something that truly can only be felt. And I hope these photographs begin to tell even an ounce of that joy and how beautiful it is.

Lacey & Taylor, your day was joy. To your amazing friends, your beautiful family and even to us, who felt so blessed to be able to document a day such as this.

Nashville Wedding Photography ◦ Cedarwood ◦ ELLEN & TERRY

When you see Ellen & Terry look at each other there is absolutely no doubt that they adore each other beyond words. Five years ago, on September 22nd, Terry was living in Oklahoma & Nashville while Ellen was living in Iowa. Ellen went down to Nashville with her daughter, Kirsten, to celebrate her bachelorette party and happened into Crossroads in downtown Nashville to enjoy some live music. Terry was in Crossroads watching his son, Trevor, live on stage. And well, I’ll let Ellen tell you the story…

“I noticed Terry and thought to myself, “There’s a good looking man!  He looks like Ed Harris!”  Then I figured out that he was Trevor’s dad because they so resembled each other.  I promptly dismissed any other thoughts, as I was there to have fun with Kirsten at her bachelorette party.  Awhile later I looked over and Kirst had Terry by the arm beckoning me toward them.  I gave her a “what do you want?” look and she gave me a “get over here now!” look!  Hahahaha!  So……over I went and she said, “Mom this is Terry….Terry this is my mom…..doesn’t he look like Ed Harris?!”!  (I had not spoken one word about Terry to Kirsten or anyone else, in reference to thinking he was good looking OR that he looked like Ed Harris!)  And, off she went, leaving us to ourselves…..and the rest, as they say, is history! It so surprised me because it was very out of character for Kirsten to introduce me to a man, especially at her bachelorette party. There were obviously greater forces at work….and Terry and I are eternally grateful!!!”

Five years later, again on September 22nd, Ellen & Terry walked into Crossroads. This time, hand in hand, as husband and wife.

Their first dance was to the Rascal Flatts song “Bless the Broken Road” and that song so perfectly describes their relationship. They have gone through a lot to get to where they are today but that road has brought many, many joys as well. Those joys were so evident on their wedding day, as they were surrounded by their parents, their children and even their grandchildren. What struck me over and over that day was how genuinely they love and care for those around them. The hugs, the tears, the smiles, the laughter…the people that were all brought together in one beautiful place because of the love of these two people.

Of course, their day was made magical by the amazing Cedarwood. Ellen & Terry split their time between Oklahoma, Nashville & Iowa and their wedding day reflected them so so well. Denim & Diamonds? What’s not to love!

This wedding was full of so many details and amazing moments. To enjoy even more, head on over to our Facebook page!
The love they have for their grandchildren is amazing. And I have to say, Ellen’s parents are AWE-SOME!I absolutely adore this moment Matt captured of Terry and his mom as they walk down the aisle. The moment they had waited for.Ellen’s son walked her down the aisle, so special. The outdoor cathedral at Cedarwood is breathtaking. So many gorgeous details.  Love a good celebration!  And of course, they had to have an after party at Crossroads!Ellen & Terry, your wedding day said so much about the wonderful people you are, the wonderful people you are blessed to call family and the wonderful love you cherish.

Destination Wedding Photography ◦ LARA & CHARLY

Documenting the most important day in someone’s life is pretty extraordinary. When you have known that person almost all of your life, it makes it that much more special. I actually grew up with Lara in our little hometown of Cedar Falls, Iowa. We kept in touch through Facebook and when I moved to Nashville years ago I noticed that she too had moved to Nashville! She had been following my photography and around that time she sent me a message that said whenever she got married she had to have me photograph her wedding. So when she found the man she knew she was going to marry I was so excited to hear from her again!

These two have such a great love story. They both work in the music industry here in Nashville, were put in touch through work and actually exchanged e-mails for 3 months before ever actually meeting in person. At their wedding they shared copies of an e-mail Lara had sent to her mom telling her that she thought he might be the one, before they even went on their first date! When you know, you just know :)

We photographed their engagement session and awesome engagement party here in Nashville and then had the privilege of traveling up to Iowa to photograph their beautiful wedding. Their day was full of so much love and after knowing Lara for so many years, it was truly a joy to see her find such a love.

So many more wonderful moments from Lara & Charly’s celebration on our Facebook page, so go on over and tag yourself!

Lara’s sisters helping her into her dress.

And the adorable ring bearers :)The anticipation right before Lara walks down the aisle with her dad.Love these moments…When asked “Who gives this woman?” Lara’s dad accidentally said “His mother & I do!” Everyone burst out laughing. I love sweet memories like this :)They were so excited to marry each other.Such adorable flower girls!Their wedding party was so much fun! This is just a sneak peek of that :)I love the character of downtowns…and of course, two people in love doesn’t hurt :)Lara, how gorgeous are you! You made a stunning bride.Lara’s sister gave such a sweet toast and had every one tearing up.First dances are always some of my favorite moments on a wedding day. This is why.And this isn’t typically how I end a post but I just had to share this photo that Matt snapped as we were saying goodbye for the evening. This moment pretty much sums up why I love what I do so much. People like Lara & Charly are why.

Hot Air Balloon Engagement Session ◦ KRISTEN & ZACH

When Kristen came in to chat with us about her wedding she said she had a sort of “out of the box” idea for her engagement session and was hoping we’d be up for it. Before even hearing her idea, I told her that we are pretty much up for anything :) Kristen and Zach love to travel. They have been to some pretty amazing places together so when she mentioned that one of their favorite memories was a hot air balloon ride over South Africa and that she wanted to recreate it for their engagement session she really didn’t have to ask us twice. They flew in from Houston on a beautiful afternoon and we had so much fun! Here are just a few moments from that sweet afternoon. We absolutely cannot wait for their wedding in just a few short weeks!

Nashville Wedding Photography ◦ ANDREA & TYLER

I was talking to one of the bridesmaids at Andrea & Tyler’s wedding and she said something that I think sums up Andrea & Tyler so well. When Tyler looks at Andrea, his face just lights up. You can see how much he adores her and how happy he makes her. To me, that is what a wedding day is all about. Choosing each other out of every person in the world. To cherish, to love and to make a life with. There is no doubt in my mind that Tyler & Andrea were made for each other and that they’ll spend their lives adoring each other. And when you know that, documenting the first day of the rest of two people’s lives together is an honor I can’t express.

Andrea & Tyler’s wedding day was about their marriage. About committing their lives to one another and celebrating such a happy day with their closest friends and family. I think you can see that clearly throughout their day.

And for more fun moments and to tag yourself in these photos, visit our Facebook page!

Andrea has such sweet friends. And the boys were pretty cool themselves :)I love this moment right before Andrea walked down the aisle. Anticipation and deep breaths :)Tyler walking his parents into the ceremony and Andrea & her dad having a little laugh right before they walk down the aisle :)Nothing beats this moment on a wedding day.Their ceremony was so heartfelt. They were pretty excited to be married :)They win the award for the best first dance, father daughter dance & mother son dance. So much love in that room.Gotta love funny toasts! And a true fight for the bouquet :)Congratulations, Andrea & Tyler. Your love for God, your love for life and your love for each other is an inspiration to us all.
